Recession: CAN declares 3 days fasting and prayers

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared three-days fasting and prayers for the country, as a result of the hardship in the country due to the economic recession.
The fasting and prayer will be held between September 21 and 23, Vanguard reports. This was contained in a statement issued by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, the special assistant on media to the CAN president, Rev. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle.

The statement read:
“As we are getting ready for the 56th Independence Anniversary, the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared September 21-23, 2016 as days of fasting and prayers for the nation and His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari with his team. “We call on all Christians nationwide to seek the face of God for divine intervention as our political leaders are seeking for panacea to the economic recession and the attendant problems.”

Oladeji urged all Christians to key into the programme. The federal government is seeking ways to get the nation out of recession. The National Economic Council on September 22, Thursday, endorsed plans by the federal government to sell some national assets as part of efforts to address the current economic recession in the country. Also, the National Assembly has been deliberating on ways to solve the recession crisis.
